The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has extended its warm congratulations to its counterpart in the United States, the Republican Party, along with President-Elect Donald Trump and Vice President-Elect J.D. Vance, following their success in the 2024 U.S. general elections.

In a statement, the NPP described the Republican victory as a strong endorsement of the party’s vision and principles by the American electorate.

The NPP also commended the United States for its ongoing commitment to democratic values, highlighted by the peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections.

The party acknowledged that this achievement provides a valuable model for democracies worldwide, including Ghana, as it approaches its own general elections on December 7, 2024.

The NPP emphasized the deep and longstanding connection it shares with the Republican Party, noting common ground in their conservative values, center-right ideology, and use of the elephant as a party symbol.

Both parties are members of the International Democrat Union, an alliance of center-right political parties globally.

This win, the NPP noted, reflects the increasing global support for center-right philosophies, a trend it hopes to see mirrored in Ghana.

The NPP expressed confidence that Ghana’s “elephant party” will also triumph in the upcoming December elections, highlighting the bold and transformative agendas championed by both President-Elect Trump and NPP’s candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The NPP reiterated its best wishes to the incoming Trump administration and expressed optimism for continued collaboration between the two nations and parties. With shared values and a mutual commitment to progress, the NPP looks forward to fostering an even stronger relationship between Ghana and the United States in the years to come.
