The Nkosuohene for Domeabra Awomaso, who happens to be an award winning district best farmer in the Ashanti region, Nana Kwasi Siaw has stated emphatically clear that, the Akufo-Addo-led government has woefully failed farmers in the country.

He said they trusted the New Patriotic Party government since the previous government refused to take the welfare of farmers at heart but they have turned them down.

In response to the issue of the welfare of farmers in the country, since agriculture has been the backbone of the nation, he emphasized that all their trust in the NPP government has dashed into thin air.

“We knew the NPP government would prioritized the welfare of our farmers per their promises but they have failed us, when you go to the Western North region and other Cocoa growing areas, they cannot get two square daily meal since there was no increment in Cocoa price, we are so disappointed in this government”, he reiterated.

Moreover, Nana Siaw added that, farmers are weeping bitterly because of bad season and low harvest of Cocoa this year but the government has not made any statement to that effect to console the frustrated farmers.

“This year for instance, farmers didn’t harvest a lot of Cocoa because of the bad weather and increment in farming inputs ,so the government should have increased the producer price a bit , meanwhile this has not been the case , we are calling on the government to sit up and help us”, he concluded.
