Dr. Bryan Acheampong has called for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to return power to its grassroots members. Speaking in an interview on the sidelines of the NPP congress at the University of Ghana stadium, Dr. Acheampong emphasized the need for the party to converge and brainstorm on how to collectively decide its leadership.
According to Dr. Acheampong, the current system where power is concentrated in the hands of a few individuals is discouraging and sidelining many party members. He believes that as a youthful leader and role model, he has a responsibility to inspire and represent the youth.
“We have to unite and hand over the party to members of the party in general,” Dr. Acheampong said. “If a few people play with power, many people will be sidelined.”
Dr. Acheampong highlighted the need for internal party democracy and inclusivity, ensuring that power is distributed fairly and that all members have a voice in decision-making processes.
