The New Patriotic Party’s third National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Alhaji Masawudu Osman, has allegedly been slapped in Akwatia during the ongoing by-election.

The incident is said to have occurred at the Akwatia Main Lorry Station, where two polling centres are located.

The cause of the confrontation remains unclear, but the alleged assailant is said to have ties to supporters of National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Chairman, Chief Sofo Azorka.

Confirming the incident to Adom News, Alhaji Osman said he has lodged a formal complaint with the Ghana Police Service and is awaiting action.

He cautioned against retaliation, noting that although both he and Azorka hail from Tamale and hold chieftaincy titles, peace must be maintained.
