Madam Elizabeth Segbenu Agah has won the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries for South Tongu in the Volta region.

She beats off strong competition from her contender, Leonard Klogo.

Madam Elizabeth Segbenu Agah polled 536 votes, while Mr. Leonard Klogo had 191 votes.

Madam Elizabeth Segbenu Agah asserts that she supports gender equality because the notion that men should perform the heavy lifting and women should serve in the kitchen is no longer prevalent. In the twenty-first century, she claims, a lot of things have changed, making policy and decision-making simpler for people of all genders.

Engaging the media, she said that though she is a professional teacher, she can blend her two positions—a political career and a teaching career. She believes politics is a seasonal position and education is an endless career, so she is very sure when it comes to the blending of the two positions. She further declared that even if she becomes president of the state, she won’t dump her teaching jobs away.

“I am very confident within myself that the circle will change first-time people will vote for the NPP parliamentary candidate who is coming from the South Tongue Constituency above all a female candidate”. She said.

She said breaking the eight (8), as the New Patriotic Party says, will surely come to pass if all other parliamentary candidates strategically plan and position their campaign messages well.

“I am a Mother for all, I don’t know how to discriminate or come to people when I am in need of their support and neglect them when duty calls”, she added.
