The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the La Dadekotopon Constituency, Joseph Kwashie Addo, has organized free medical screening for two electoral areas in La DadeKotopon Constituency on Saturday, August 31, 2024.
The screening took place at Epiphany Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Kaajaano in the South La Estates specifically Fisheries and its environs and at the same time, Lante George Family House.
During a media interview with the First Vice Chairman of the Constituency, Isaac Odoi he indicated that the core mandate of the PC is to improve the health situation amongst the people of his constituents citing climate change and the recent Homowo Festival which brought tourists to the constituency can pose health hazards to some individuals.
Mr. Odoi further noted that due to the instances cited, one is capable of contracting typhoid and other diseases.
However, the La General Hospital is still under construction, and the initiative is to minimize and prevent such diseases from being on the rise in the constituency.
“Our PC, Joseph Addo organized this free health screening to prevent residents from contracting diseases such as Typhoid which has been on the rise in the country. The La General Hospital is still under construction and even though it’s late, we will complete it and fulfil our commitment to the people of La, for the meantime, the constituency has a healthcare centre, but it’s not equipped enough to contain a lot of patients who will mount pressure on health workers and the patient”.
The screening was carried out by a team of Medical Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses and consultants from Diplomatic Patriot Health Group.
Speaking to a Doctor from the medical team, he expressed his excitement about the constituents’ massive turnout and good conduct.
“The residents are engaging, and this is making our work very easy. They are providing answers to every question asked and the turnout is massive than expected, because most free health screening, people don’t really show up like what I’ve witnessed today”, Dr. Asare Boateng stated.
The people in attendance expressed surprise when they were given medications after the test because they had heard that, in most cases, they had to purchase teh medications at the pharmacy by themselves.
Another constituent, Georgina Badu, lauded the PC and his team for making the screening and medicine free for all the constituents despite one’s party affiliation.
Attendees were screened for typhoid, malaria, blood level, blood sugar, body mass index and blood pressure, as well as medicines such as lethalin, Ascorbin Vitamin C, Amoxicillin, Benylin among others were available.
Meanwhile, the PC has held several free health screening in other electoral areas in the constituency.
