The Eastern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Jeff Konadu Addo, popularly referred to as (Obiaa Jeff), has said, he will allow delegates in the party to decide whom they want to lead the party in 2024 as a Flagbearer.
His comments comes after some newspaper outlets reported a split of polls share from the NPP’s Regional executives elections between the two major contenders of party’s presidential position, namely Dr. Bawumia and Trade minister Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng over the weekend.
The reports indicated that the Ashanti region fell for Dr. Bawumia whiles the Eastern Region gave their best to the Trade Minister, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng.
Reacting to the tag being reported by the newspaper on Monday, May 30, Mr. Jeff Konadu Addo stated that people are saying a lot but as for him, wherever he may directs his support to, is only kept in his head, hence there is no need playing tricks on him.
According to him, he is an ardent visitor to the Vice President Dr. Bawumia but not withstanding, he also has a good relationship with the Trade Minister, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng.
“People are saying a lot. Whether I support Kwasi or Kwame, it is in my head, I’ve not discussed with anyone which direction I’m going. I visit Dr. Bawumia frequently, nonetheless I’m also in a good relationship with Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng, I visit him and he’s even supporting my 1D1F in Afram Plains and so if you see me coming from Bawumia or Alan’s office, people will say I’m here or there”, he told Kwame Koranteng on Republic FM on Monday, May 30.
He added that it is clear that as a regional Chairman of the NPP in the Eastern Region, he would play it fair and allow the party to speak and not use his position as a Chairman to influence their decision.
“As a regional Chairman, I will play it fair and allow the party to speak. The party people must decide, I won’t say because I’m friends with the Vice President or the Trade Minister I will order you to do this or that, no, they have their own minds”, he added.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jeff Konadu won the Eastern Regional Chairmanship position with a landslide margin, pulling 424 votes over his main contender Kwadwo Agyemang Boateng who was proposed to take the position by President Akufo-Addo.
