The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Justin Kodua Frimpong, has cautioned parliamentary aspirants who have plans to camp or bus delegates ahead of the January 27 primaries to abort such plans.

He made this statement during a press conference on Monday, January 22 at the Ashanti Regional NPP office in Krofrom.

According to him, any aspirant who fails to abide by the guidelines ahead of the party’s Parliamentary primaries will be sanctioned.

“The party has formulated these rules and regulations to ensure free and fair elections and we believe that everyone should be allowed to feel free to walk to the polling centre to cast their votes.

It is of this belief that we have made the statement that no one should camp delegates at any place”, he said.

He warned party members against taking pictures of their ballot adding that it is an offense.

“Those who take pictures of their votes, aside from nullifying your votes, it is an offense and you would be handed over to the Police,” he added.

The Party has however given the green light to a total of 326 parliamentary aspirants to contest in the primaries.

Out of the total number of 373 aspirants, who filed to contest the primaries, after vetting, 29 are going unopposed, 11 were disqualified, two were referred to the National Executive Committee (NEC), two stepped down, one incomplete form and two did not show up for vetting leaving the qualified aspirants for the primaries at 326.
