The New Patriotic Party (NPP) through its General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua has once again rescheduled the date for NPP Parliamentary primaries in constituencies with sitting Members of Parliament.

The new date according to the General Secretary is January 27, 2024.

In an earlier statement released on November 10, 2023, the National Executive Committee of the party rescheduled the conduct of primaries in constituencies where the party has sitting MPs to January 20, 2024, with nominations expected to be opened on December 20 to December 22, 2023.

But speaking to the media on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, the general secretary revealed that a new date has once again been changed.

“It was agreed by NEC, which is in charge of the Parliamentary Elections that the date be varied from January 20 to January 27, 2024”, Justin Kodua said.

As communicated earlier nominations will be opened from Wednesday, December 20 to Monday, December 25, 2023.

The party has however banned all forms of campaigning until nominations are officially opened.

“Prospective aspiring parliamentary candidates and their supporters are prohibited from engaging with polling station executives and from organizing all forms of activities or programs in the Constituency.

In the coming weeks, the party is expected to release guidelines o govern the conduct of the parliamentary primaries in the various constituencies”, Justin Kodua added.
