As scheduled some weeks ago, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will today, July 3, begin the vetting of its presidential aspirants seeking to lead the party in the 2024 general elections.
The aspirants who are ten (10) in total will take turns from Monday, July 3 to Thursday, July 6, 2023.
Aspirants expected to undergo vetting today include former Trade Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen; businessman Kwadwo Poku, and vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
On Friday, June 30, 2023, the party inaugurated a nine-member vetting committee to take the aspirants through the process ahead of a special congress on August 26, to elect five candidates as mandated by the party’s constitution.
The committee would be chaired by a former Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye.
