The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso Constituency, Hon. Davis Ansah Opoku (OPK) has called on all the 16 regional Chairmen and their executives of the New Patriotic Party to exhibit some “sense” of discipline if the party is intended to break the 8 mantra.
The MP made the call when he graced the Mpraeso NPP constituency executives meeting with the Atibie NMTC TESCON chapter of the party.
Speaking to Republic FM’s Andy Frimpong Manso on the sideline of the TESCON NMTC Chapter, he established that everybody is involved in the party’s willingness to win the 2024 elections for the third time.
“Everybody is involved. TESCON, Youth Wing, Women’s wing, Secretaries and Chairmen. But I always say that we must always be united first and if we are not united, how can we break the 8? But if we are serious to break the 8, we must be united as one party and that’s why I’m supporting General Secretary Justin Kodua’s statement. What I’m saying is that we should be united especially the Regional Chairmen and their regional officers including the national officers, nobody should depart from the plan, and everybody should obey the rules”,
He advised some regional regional executives who have been endorsing unconfirmed presidential candidates to desist from such acts which may divide the party.
“I have been engaging my constituency polling station officers, I’ve told them to accept anybody that comes to them and at the end of the day, you choose who you think have the best of policies. Recently, you’d see some Regional executives in some meetings, endorsing and declaring aspirants, if everybody wants to declare, there will be no peace in the party. The party has rules, it’s a disciplined party and we have a calendar that allows us to run the affairs of the party and we can only break the 8 if we have disciplined Regional and national executives in the party moving into 2024”, and he cautioned.
The Constituency executives for the New Patriotic Party in Mpraeso met with the Party’s TESCON chapter of the Atibie Nursing And Midwifery Training College on Thursday, August 4 to discuss matters that are of coordinated interest to the students and the party.
The engagement was meant to usher new members to the Atibie NMTC TESCON Mpraeso chapter and the NPP party at large.
The MP made known that there was the need for the party to meet with the TESCON chapter to explain matters of governance and the government’s decision to go to the IMF for an economic bailout and its financial discrepancies in recent times.
Some of the student members called on the MP to speak on their behalf to Fast-track the payment of the 12-month unpaid allowance. Some of the students pleaded earnestly since most of them depend on the allowance to settle their school fees.
The MP, however, donated ¢2,000 to the student to support their activities.
He established that the TESCON also forms part of the party’s machinery to help break the 8 in the forthcoming 2024 General elections.
