Aggrieved supporters of the ruling NPP in the Fomena Constituency of the Ashanti Region have protested against the leadership of the party for allegedly favouring the MP for the area, Andrew Amoako Asiamah against other Contestants in the polling station election.
More than 100 angry members of the ruling New Patriotic Party, in the Fomena Constituency of the Ashanti Region have demonstrated against the party’s leadership threatening to desert the party to join the opposition NDC over alleged preferential treatment of persons linked to the Independent MP for the area, Andrew Amoako Asiamah.
The protestors demonstrated amidst campaign songs of former President John Mahama and warned not to vote for the NPP in the next general election in 2024.
The disgruntled supporters carried placards with inscriptions such as “let the NPP Constitution work”, ”John Boadu and Co”, ”Not unopposed in Fomena”, and ”We will defend the NPP Constitution”, among others.
According to Citinews, the angry protestors painted the NPP Fomena Constituency office into NDC colours and pasted posters of former President John Mahama on the building.
They vowed to resist any attempt by the Independent Member of Parliament for the area, Andrew Amoako Asiamah, to be imposed on them in the next general elections.
They further accused the leadership of the party of making some overtures calculated to favour supporters of the independent Member of Parliament against those believed to belong to other camps in the ongoing polling station elections.
