NPP urges Mahama to sack Controller and Accountant General

A communication team member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Bonsu, has asked President John Dramani Mahama to immediately remove the Controller and Accountant General, Mr Akwasi Agyei, from office.

He stated that the man, who was appointed by former President Akufo-Addo, was part of the reasons the party lost the 2024 elections and undermined the grassroots of the party for his selfish gains and must be removed from office.

He claimed the NDC has more credible, comprehensive, and diligent persons who can do a better job compared to what Mr Akwasi Agyei is doing at the moment.

“President John Dramani Mahama and his government must be vigilant and remove all the NPP appointees from post. One such character is the Controller and Accountant General. He is a traitor and has undermined the NPP because he is still in office. He is behaving as if he is no longer a member of the NPP. He was appointed by the NPP, but today he is betraying the NPP and misbehaving. He was one of the reasons why we ended up in opposition, and today he is still in office working. The NDC must be vigilant and remove him from office before he destroys this government. There are equally competent NDC personalities who have what it takes to work in that capacity.”

Nana Bonsu went on to state that any other appointee appointed by President Akufo-Addo ought to be removed from office. He said President Mahama must consider his own appointees and replace them with the NPP appointees who are still at post.
