Nashiru Abdul Karim, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Yendi Constituency Chairman, has announced the temporary suspension of 184 members for violating the party’s constitution.

The decision, revealed in a press statement on Wednesday, December 26, 2024, was made in accordance with Article 3, Clause (9)(1), Clause (7)(1), and Clause (8)(1) of the NPP’s 2017 amended constitution.

The statement explained that the party leadership received multiple complaints from members, which were submitted as petitions, alleging misconduct by the suspended individuals related to the recent presidential and parliamentary elections.

These allegations were thoroughly investigated by the Constituency Executive Committee and the party’s Disciplinary Committee. Following these investigations, an expanded Constituency Executive Committee meeting, held on December 23, 2024, included input from the Council of Elders, the Council of Patrons, and the Disciplinary Committee. The meeting concluded with a unanimous decision to suspend the members in question.

The move was deemed essential to uphold the integrity and principles of the party’s constitution.

In the press release, Chairman Nashiru Abdul Karim emphasized the party’s commitment to maintaining discipline and enforcing its rules. “I humbly notify the National and Regional leadership of the party, as well as the general public, that these members have forfeited their membership or have been suspended effective December 26, 2024,” he stated.

The chairman further stressed that these actions were taken to ensure accountability and strict adherence to the party’s constitutional guidelines.
