Former president John Dramani Mahama has asked the ruling National Patriotic Party (NPP) to regard Ghanaians with respect and not use slogans to deceive them.
In a Facebook post, Mr. Mahama said, the NPP has failed to complete any of the Agenda ‘111’ hospitals though it is four years since the president made the promise to Ghanaians.
He added that what is on the ground is entirely different from what was promised and as result, the NPP should respect the people of Ghana.
“The ‘Agenda 111’ hospitals promise is in its 4th year, yet not a single hospital has been completed to support quality health care delivery.
Agenda 111 hospitals
President Nana Akufo-Addo in August 2021 launched the Agenda 111 project.
The decision to undertake the largest investment in the country’s healthcare system, Agenda 111, arose from the Government’s determination to close the gaping lack of access to healthcare facilities.
The Agenda 111 project includes 101 district hospitals, six regional hospitals in the newly created regions, two specialised hospitals in the middle and northern belts, as well as a regional hospital in the Western Region and renovation of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.
It was expected to take 18 months to complete from the commencement of each unit, with funding of $100 million from the government through the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF).
Each of the hospitals will cost $16.88 million, with $12.88 million being used for the construction of the hospitals and $4 million for medical equipment.
