Kennedy Agyapong, a former flagbearer aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has signaled his intention to pull out of the party’s ongoing campaign, citing escalating threats and a recent violent incident involving one of his supporters.
“Myself and my team want to pull out. Lives are threatened, and I don’t think I can protect my team enough,” Agyapong said. “So I will pull out so Dr. Bawumia can continue with his campaign.”
His comments come in the wake of an alleged stabbing incident, in which one of his supporters was reportedly attacked by a member of Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team. Though details remain limited and unconfirmed, the incident has intensified growing tensions within the party as it prepares for the 2024 general elections.
Agyapong, known for his bold and unfiltered commentary, expressed a clear priority: the safety of his team. “It’s not worth risking lives,” he implied, suggesting that stepping aside may be the only responsible course of action.
The NPP leadership has yet to publicly respond to the allegations or Agyapong’s potential withdrawal, but political observers say the development could have significant implications for party unity and morale moving forward.
