Residents of Nsunfa in the Ga Central Municipality of the Greater Accra region have called on the government to as a matter of urgency build a pedestrian bridge at Nsunfa-CP on the Awoshie-Pokuase highway.

According to the residents, many people have lost their lives while several others have gotten injured while crossing the highway.

They attributed this precarious situation to the lack of a pedestrian bridge at Nsunfa-CP of the highway.

The residents described the experience of crossing the road to the other side to board a vehicle as dangerous and a threat to life.

The frustration they go through each day jumping the road metal barriers to the other side of the road is the reason to boycott the 2020 elections if the government do not adhere to their plea.

The Awoshie-Pokuase three-lane dual carriageway was constructed with just a footbridge at NIC, also in the Ga Central Municipality.

“It is not easy for us to cross the road. Some residents and school kids have been knockdown on the stretch while trying to cross to the other side.”A resident said

Pedestrians said the nearest footbridge built at NIC is far hence they prefer to cross at the Nsunfa Junction.

Several people who also spoke with myrepubliconline.com complained of the problem and made similar calls for footbridges, which they believe could salvage the problem.

They added that a small step was recently built by a block factory near the road to help residents cross the road with ease.

The Ga Central Municipal Assembly and Ghana Highway Authority are yet to respond to the cry of the residents.
