The Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority [NYA], Pius Enam Hadzide has said the 2022 budget statement is a document that goes beyond mere lip service but rather invests in providing the necessary resources for youth to be trained and to establish their own businesses.

Mr. Hadzide make the call when he addressed a press conference at the head office of the Authority to commend government and espouse the many opportunities inherent in the budget, particularly for the youth.

Touching on a few sub- themes such as the Youth Start Initiative, Banking Sector Skills Development Programmes and the National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Programme (NAELP) Mr. Hadzide said the 2022 budget undoubtedly prioritizes the interests and needs of the youth since the budget makes provisions for the training, employment, financing and scaling of existing enterprises for the youth.

“Our assurance that these programmes will be implemented in a fair, transparent and effective manner is rooted in the fact that compact framework that tie the release of resources to the result of implementing agencies have been adopted by the Ministry of Finance and continue to be signed with various implementing agencies” Hon. Hadzide noted.

He said in addition to the skills development initiatives embedded in the budget, the NYA between August 2020 to August 2021 committed GH 3.28 million to the operation of it’s 11 Youth Leadership and Skills Training Institutes.

“The Authority has further collaborated with numerous stakeholders to implement the Skills Towards Employment and Productivity (STEP) and Youth Agri- Enterprise Support (YAES) programmes which identify a combined 13,000 young people for apprenticeship training”. Hon Hadzide emphasized.
