A 23-year-old man is in police custody following the alleged gruesome murder of his father in the Oti Region.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
According to an official statement released by the Ghana Police Service, the suspect, identified as Innocent Owusu, allegedly attacked and killed his 59-year-old father, Peter Owusu, at their family residence.
He then fled the scene into the surrounding bush.
Acting on local intelligence and a swift tip-off, officers from the Jasikan District Police tracked Owusu to a hideout within the Abrani forest, where he was apprehended without further incident.
Police confirmed that they recovered the decapitated body and head of the deceased.
The remains have since been transported to the Hohoe Government Hospital Mortuary, where they are being preserved pending a formal autopsy.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) John Nchor, the Public Affairs Officer for the Oti Region, confirmed that Innocent Owusu is currently being held at the station.
”The suspect is currently in custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations to determine the motive behind this tragic act,” DSP Nchor stated.
