Residents and opinion leaders in Ashifla in the Obom-Domeabra Constituency under Ga South municipality have called for help as severe water shortage hit the community.

According residents, they solely depend on water tankers or sometimes use sachet water for bathing, cooking and other household activities since the only four borehole in the area is salty.

They are appealing to the government to intervene and provide them with portable drinking water.

Speaking with the Nkosohene of Ashifla community in the Obom Domeabra Constituency, Nii Ayi Morwaamor I, says his community is tired of drinking salty water.

According to him, series of letters have been presented to the Ga -South Assembly and the Municipal Chief Executive, Honourable Joseph Nyarni Stephen but they are yet to receive any response from the Assembly.

The community which occupies 2,000 inhabitants depends on a 3 bole holes which produces salty water that is detrimental to the health of the people.

They are appealing to Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to come to their aid because their reliance on the Ghanaian government has failed following numerous pleas toward politicians.

He is appealing to Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as a matter of urgency to fulfil their problem.
