Protestors of the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration have been stopped by police and prevented from entering the Jubilee House.

The protest, which is being organised by a civil society group, Democracy Hub, seeks to picket at the presidency for three consecutive days to register their displeasure with how Ghana’s economy has been mismanaged and demand accountability.

However, attempts to march to the Jubilee House have failed, as the police have moved in to barricade the 37-Military Hospital Road, which leads to their destination.

Meanwhile, in spite of the fact that the police arrested about 50 of the protestors yesterday when the demonstration began, they are not relenting in their efforts and have decided to station themselves at the point until they get their way through.

The #OccupyJulorBiHouse Protest is a combination of English and well-crafted GA words to drive home the essence of the protest. The JulorBi in the protest name is a Ga language word that literally means “The Child of a Thief” This name of the protest can read as Occupy The Child of a Thief’s House Protest where the Jubilee house is portrayed as a crime scene in the country per the views of the organizers.

The #OccupyJulorBiHouse Protest is a protest that aims at picketing at the #JubileeHouse. It will be used to drive home the economic hardship that the country has been plunged in by the Nana Addo-led government, and corruption issues that are already in the public domain among others.
