A man is in the grips of the police at Offinso in the Ashanti Region for allegedly kidnapping and murdering a 4-year-old girl.
The decapitated body of Benedicta Owusu Sarpong was found lifeless Tuesday night behind the St. Patrick Nursing and Midwifery College prompting police action.
The suspect Owura Kwaku was later arrested in connection with the crime after police investigations.
He was put before the Offinso Circuit Court and has since been remanded into prison to reppear on June 9, 2021.
According to report over 100 residents of Offinso in the Ashanti Region thronged the forecourt of the Offinso Circuit Court to lynch the suspect.
The Offinso Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Ben Wunchi, explained that “it took Offinso police almost two hours to disperse thousands of angry residents who besieged the Offinso Circuit Court as they demanded for the head of the suspect”.
