The Atipimhene to the Paramount Chief of Anhwiaso Traditional Council, Nana Bonya III has debunked allegations levelled against the Paramount Chief Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II for charging the Mensin Gold Bibiani Mine Ltd an amount of GH₵ 500,000 for resettlement exercise.
According to Nana Bonya III (Atipimhene) the authorities of Mensin Gold Mine Ltd upon meeting with the traditional council said they were going to pay a lesser amount per a plot of land, which Ogyeahoho never agreed upon.
He added that the Mine authorities disagreed to pay six thousand cedis per plot of land however trying to impose their favorite price of thousand five hundred per price for a plot of land.
“The traditional council charged six thousand cedis per plot of land which the mining authorities said they were going to pay thousand five hundred cedis per plot of land.
However, a plot is sold at higher price, so the traditional council realized the mining authorities didn’t want to comply by the terms and conditions, which brought those rumors”, he noted.
In addition, he was quick to respond that, despite the authorities not coming into agreement concerning the price, Ogyeahoho has given the nod to the Mining authorities to go ahead with the resettlement exercise whilst the negotiations are ongoing.
“Ogyeahoho even bought the schnapp for the purification with his personal money”, Nana Bonya III said.
