President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to legalizing the operations of commercial motorbike riders, known as “Okada,” appears to be progressing, as some registered riders have now completed their training.
The initiative is being spearheaded by OKADAMOTTO, an institution dedicated to licensing and regulating the Okada business in Ghana.
As part of its efforts to professionalize the sector, OKADAMOTTO provides training, certification, and digital integration for riders.
OKADAMOTTO’s Mission to Modernize Okada Transport
OKADAMOTTO is a modern on-demand motorcycle-taxi booking platform designed to connect passengers with trained and approved riders via a mobile app. The company aims to provide a safer, more convenient alternative for commuters navigating through heavy traffic.
Speaking about the initiative, the CEO of OKADAMOTTO emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing transportation services.
“We understand the challenges of navigating through heavy traffic and unreliable transportation systems. OKADAMOTTO was built to provide a smarter, faster alternative for daily commuters,” he stated.
During the training program, participating Okada riders received branded helmets, identity cards, and certificates, officially regularizing their work on a digital platform. The platform also allows riders to subscribe to the Okadamotto app, enabling them to operate similarly to ride-hailing services like Uber and Bolt.
OKADAMOTTO’s Role in the Future of Okada Business
Beyond personal transport, OKADAMOTTO is also offering business solutions for commercial transportation needs. The platform provides cost-effective ride services for companies looking to streamline their logistics and delivery operations.
For Okada riders who wish to join the initiative, the company has assured them of professional recognition and the opportunity to build a sustainable livelihood.
“At OKADAMOTTO, our rider-partners are essential to our success. We are committed to empowering them to achieve financial stability while fostering a supportive community,” the CEO added.
As Ghana moves towards regulating and modernizing the Okada industry, initiatives like OKADAMOTTO could play a significant role in shaping the future of motorcycle transportation in the country.
