Accra Great Olympics shocked Kumasi Asante Kotoko to a 2-0 defeat at Sogakope on Thursday, to boost their chances of surviving in the betPawa Premier League.
Micheal Osei and Emmanuel Akesseh gave Olympics a well deserved lead in the first 45 minutes, to secure all three points, which moved them out of the relegation zone.
Michael Osei’s goal came in 8 minutes into the start of the first half, as he took advantage of a delivery that was sent into the 18-yard box by Christopher Nettey.
Great Olympics scored again on the 39th minute through Emmanuel Akesseh, following a goalkeeping error from Frederick Asare, who cheaply gave away the ball in the box.
The victory takes Olympics to the 15th position, just a point away from the relegation zone while Kotoko sits 5th with 42 points.
Olympics will play Bibiani Gold Stars on Sunday while Kotoko will play Tamale City in Kumasi, also on Sunday.
