One person has been shot dead with two others injured in a violent clash in Bawku in the Upper East region
On Saturday August 12, 2023, police arrested some five persons believed to have shot into a crowd of civilians going about their activities.
According to reports, affected individuals were rushed to the hospital but one was confirmed dead upon arrival.
Confirming the incident, Municipal Chief Executive for the area Hamza Amadu indicated that, the dead person was not a resident of Bawku but a teacher and resident in Bolgatanga who was just driving passengers to Bawku as part-time driver.
He added that, the other two victims are currently receiving treatment.
The police together with other security agencies is still investigating the cause of the incident.
Although, Bawku has been experiencing some chieftaincy disputes in the past months, calm was restored for a period until this latest incident.
