One person has reportedly died with 37 others sustaining serious of injuries in an accident at Mankrong on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

The crash involved a 40-seater Zhong Tong bus (AS 7022-21) and a Man Diesel truck (GW 3969-U), both of which were in motion at the time of collision.

A statement issued by the Ghana Fire Service (GNFS) revealed that the 37 injured individuals, comprising 21 males, 17 females sustained varying injuries, while the truck occupants escaped unhurt.

The GNFS noted that the rescue crew, led by ADO II Bernard Boamah, was dispatched at 06:59 hours and arrived at 07:07 hours.

“The team extricated the deceased from the wreckage, assisted the injured, including some already taken to Suhum Government Hospital, cleared the scene, restored traffic flow, and ensured the safety of road users.

The front of the bus was extensively damaged, while the rear of the truck sustained minor damage. Eyewitnesses reported that the bus, allegedly at high speed, crashed into the truck. The crew left the scene at 0857 hours and returned to base at 0952 hours, highlighting GNFS’s commitment to rapid and professional emergency response.”
