One monkey Pox (Mpox) case has been recorded in Nkawkaw, the Kwahu West Municipal Capital.

Confirming the report, the Municipal Health Director, Madam Celestine Asante admitted that a case has been confirmed and all the necessary procedures are being put in place to ensure health compliance is ensured as its works to contain the situation from spreading.

GHS tightens surveillance after Hantavirus outbreak on cruise ship in Cape Verde

As of July 22, 2025, Ghana has reported a total of 257 confirmed cases of Monkeypox (Mpox), with one reported death. This includes 23 newly confirmed cases and the first death since the outbreak began.

In 2022, Ghana recorded 128 cases and four deaths. In 2024, the country reported five additional cases. Health authorities are urging the public to take preventative measures and report suspected cases.

Here’s a more detailed breakdown: 

2022-2023: 128 confirmed cases and 4 deaths, according to the Parliament of Ghana.

2024: 5 additional cases reported.

July 2025: 23 new cases and the first reported death.

Total: 257 confirmed cases, with one death.

GHS confirms 10 new Mpox cases, total rises to 19
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) is actively involved in surveillance, public education, and contact tracing to manage the outbreak.
