The Weija Divisional Police Command have arrested a twenty-year -old suspect for allegedly smuggling substances suspected to be Narcotic drugs into Weija toll booth police cell.
The Police said on January 12, 2022, personnel whiles on duty at the Weija toll booth station, sensed the smell of smoke coming from the direction of the cells.
Police say, a search was immediately conducted in the cell and discovered a substance hidden in a blanket being used by inmates who are on remand.
Preliminary investigations pointed out that, the substance suspected to be narcotics was delivered by suspect, Christian Danso through the ventilation hole behind the cells building.
The Weija Command subsequently arrested suspect in his hide out at Weija. In his caution statement he admitted to having committed the offence and demonstrated how he managed to deliver the substance through the ventilation hole at the back of the cell building.
The Police indicated that investigation is still ongoing and suspect together with his other accomplices will be processed for court.
The Regional Police Command reiterates its commitment to making sure that the Region in particular and country at large is raided of all crimes .
