President-elect John Dramani Mahama has taken an early step towards fulfilling his campaign promise to fight corruption by forming a preparatory team tasked with gathering information on suspected corrupt acts.
In a statement released on December 18, 2024, Mahama’s Transition Team announced the establishment of this team as part of the groundwork for his administration’s anti-corruption agenda.
Dubbed Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), the initiative seeks to recover proceeds of corruption and hold those responsible accountable when Mahama assumes office.
The preparatory team is composed of key individuals from diverse backgrounds, including public service, law, and journalism. The team members are:
- Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Chairman
- Mr. Daniel Domelevo – Former Auditor-General
- COP (Rtd.) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye
- Mr. Martin Kpebu – Private Legal Practitioner
- Mr. Raymond Archer – Investigative Journalist
According to Mahama’s spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the anti-corruption drive forms a core part of Mahama’s 2024 campaign pledges.
“The team will receive and gather information from members of the public and other sources on suspected acts of corruption,” he stated.
With corruption often at the forefront of Ghana’s political discourse, Operation Recover All Loot is expected to play a pivotal role in addressing public concerns over misuse of public funds.
The initiative underscores the president-elect’s intent to hit the ground running on his anti-corruption commitments as he prepares to assume office in January.
