An opinion polling agency has declared that it is likely for National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate James Gyakye Quayson to win the Assin-North by-election.

An opinion polling agency has declared that it is likely for National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate James Gyakye Quayson to win the Assin-North by-election.

The survey conducted by the agency puts James Gyakye Quayson far ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate, Charles Opoku.

Mr. James Gyakye Quayson of the NDC polled 69% against his close contender of the NPP, Charles Opoku who secured 30%.

The Electoral Commission has set June 27, 2023, for the Assin-North by-election following the nullification of the 2020 parliamentary election in the area, which was won by Mr. James Quayson.

The Supreme Court, which nullified the poll, ordered Parliament to expunge Gyakye Quayson’s name from its records after finding the NDC candidate guilty of holding dual citizenship prior to filing to contest the 2020 polls.
