Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi and Minister of Works and Housing, has made a strong case for supporting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, as the December 7 elections approach.
Speaking at a commissioning ceremony for a new durbar ground built by the NPP government in Akyem Kotokuom, Hon. Oppong Nkrumah emphasized that Dr. Bawumia is the only presidential candidate committed to upholding and continuing the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
“The Free SHS policy has had a significant positive impact on numerous Ghanaian children, and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia remains the sole candidate who genuinely believes in and will continue this initiative,” Hon. Oppong Nkrumah stated.
He warned that voting for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and their flag bearer, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, would put the policy at risk, citing past criticisms from the NDC as evidence of their lack of support for the program.
He urged Ghanaians to make the “right choice” in December to ensure that the Free SHS policy benefits future generations. “If Ghanaians make the mistake of voting for the NDC, this unique policy will be cancelled,” he said, appealing for votes for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP.
Hon. Paul Asamoah Gyemah, the District Chief Executive for Akyemansa, also addressed the gathering, commending the people of Akyem Kotokuom for their patience and support for Hon. Oppong Nkrumah, even when the community had yet to see developmental projects. He assured them of additional infrastructure projects with continued backing for the NPP.
The queen mother, Nana Tanuah Brakua II, and the chief, Obrempong Kwakye Marfo Ahenkrah II, expressed their gratitude to Hon. Oppong Nkrumah and DCE Gyemah for their collaborative efforts in advancing development within their community.
As the December elections draw near, the call to preserve the Free SHS policy and ensure continuity under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership has become a focal point in the NPP’s campaign efforts.
