The Turkish Embassy in association with the office of the National Chief Imam has concluded negotiations to establish the Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu Technical University in Nzema in the Western Region.
This initiative is in honour of the National Chief Imam who hails from Axim in the Western Region.
Sheik Aremiyaw, spokesman for the National Chief Imam disclosed this during a sod-cutting ceremony for the University in the Nzema-east Municipality.
The sod-cutting ceremony was part of the Chief Imam’s two-day visit to Axim.
Sheik Aremiyaw disclosed to the paramount chiefs, traditional leaders Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah and the District Chief Executive, Mr Kwasi Bonzoh and asked them to help make the Chief Imam’s dream a reality.
He added that education was dear to the Chief Imam’s heart where he has contributed massively towards Islamic and secular education in Ghana.
Furthermore, Sheik Aremiyaw said, the National Chief Imam who is a member of the National Peace Council has been a great asset to the nation in terms of conflict resolution and maintaining peace across conflict zones in the country and making one of his greatest dreams a reality would be an honour.
The MP for Ellembelle, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah also lauded the peaceful, selfless and humble nature of the Chief Imam and attributed him to greats like Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ephraim Armoo, Paa Grant who have also contributed their quota in the Western Region.
Mr Buah promised to ensure his office works hand in hand with the Turkish Embassy and the office of the Chief Imam to make sure the project becomes a reality.
