The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has filed 78 charges against eight individuals, including former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, over their alleged involvement in the contentious revenue assurance contracts between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).
Those facing prosecution include former GRA Commissioner-Generals Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah and Emmanuel Kofi Nti, senior GRA officials Isaac Crentsil and Kwadwo Damoa, former Ministry of Finance Technical Advisor Ernest Akore, SML owner Evans Adusei, and SML itself.
The charges follow months of investigation by the OSP, which reportedly uncovered evidence of corruption, abuse of office, and breaches in procurement during the negotiation, approval, and execution of the SML-GRA contracts.
Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng stated that the evidence “points to criminal conduct” by some officials and includes allegations of conspiracy to improperly influence the procurement process to gain unfair advantage in awarding contracts.
