The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has issued its investigative findings into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences involving a former Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Charles Adu Boahen.
Mr. Adu Boahen was relieved of his position as Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance by President Akufo-Addo in November 2022 on the back of allegations of suspected corruption leveled against him in an investigative documentary titled “Galamsey Economy” by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The President subsequently directed the OSP to investigate the said allegations of corruption and corruption related offences involving Mr. Adu Boahen.
In the investigative piece, Mr. Adu Boahen was seen asking an investor to pay an appearance fee of $200,000 to enable a meeting between him and the Vice President.
Mr. Adu Boahan also allegedly told the undercover investor that he should promise the Vice President to employ some of his relatives to enable his investment to kick off early.
After almost a year of investigations, the Office of the Special Prosecutor has released its findings.
