The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has removed former Minister of Finance, Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta, from its list of wanted persons after he committed to voluntarily returning to Ghana for questioning regarding suspected corruption and financial misconduct.

On February 12, 2025, the Special Prosecutor declared Ofori-Atta a fugitive after he failed to provide a reasonable timeline for his return to the country.

He had previously been invited for questioning but had not presented himself physically to the OSP within the specified timeframe.

However, on February 18, 2025, Ofori-Atta, through his legal representatives, officially communicated a definitive date for his return.

In response, the OSP deemed his commitment reasonable and rescheduled his interrogation to accommodate his expected arrival.

With this development, Ofori-Atta has been removed from the OSP’s wanted list. However, the Special Prosecutor cautioned that if he fails to return on the agreed date or does not comply with the investigation process, he will be reinstated as a fugitive, and legal measures will be taken to ensure his return.

The OSP reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring accountability through due process and fairness, emphasizing that it will take all necessary actions to uphold the integrity of its investigations.
