Founder and board chairman of Quick Credit & Investment Micro-Credit Limited, Richard Nii Armah Quaye, has declared that the company will cease its house-to-house loan recovery operations going forward.
At the company’s annual gathering held in Accra, Mr. Quaye revealed that the decision comes on the back of feedback and complaints from various stakeholders.
Incorporated in 2011 and licensed by the Bank of Ghana to operate as a Lending Institution under the Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) Act, Quick Credit has over the years supported individuals with loans for various reasons.
Over the past years, the company gained some attention due to the actions of its officers who moved from house to house to confront customers who had defaulted on loan repayments.
With several videos on social media, these officers were sometimes seen climbing the vehicles of customers and assaulting them in an attempt to make them pay their loans.
“In 2023, we received numerous feedback from our customers, the general public and our regulator on our activities”, Mr. Quaye said.
He added “I am thrilled to announce that we have taken a decision to dissolve the house-to-house recovery department of the company. We will no longer be visiting clients for recovery ever again.”
