It has been alleged that more than GH¢ 53 million was taken from the previous Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources’ house.

This new revelation follows the scandal over the several foreign and local currencies the house helps of the former Minister allegedly stole from her residence.

It emerged on Friday, July 21 that two house helps of the Minister were facing charges before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing an amount of $1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghanaian cedis at the former minister’s residence at Abelenkpe, Accra, in October 2022.

The two, 18-year-old Patience Botwe and 30-year-old Sarah Agyei allegedly stole the monies and personal effects of the couple, between the months of July and October 2022.

But according to Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe, he has credible information from very trusted sources that more than GHS53Million Ghana Cedis was stolen from the Minister’s home last year.

However, the Minister managed to make some recoveries from the two suspects with the rest now outstanding in court.

Speaking on TV3, Lawyer Edudzi revealed the house help involved was not yet 18 as at the time of the alleged crime and was hence put before a juvenile court earlier.

“I know on authority the amount involved is more than Gh¢ 53million.” He alleged

Madam Dapaah resigned from her position as a result of the scandal.

She said she decided to step down “because I do not want this matter to become a preoccupation of government and a hindrance to the work of government at such a crucial time.

President Akufo-Addo expressed confidence that she will be vindicated.
