A 103-page report from a committee investigating the 2,500 Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers stuck at the Tema harbour has revealed shocking discrepancies, including the disappearance of over 1,300 containers.
According to Energy Minister, John Jinapor, who received the report, the findings are “very disturbing” and point to serious procurement breaches
John Jinapor disclosed this information on his Facebook page, stating that law enforcement agencies will be tasked with holding those responsible accountable.
This development comes after Mr. Jinapor’s earlier inspection of the Tema Harbour, where he discovered approximately 2,500 uncleared ECG containers accumulating demurrage charges of over GHS 1.5 billion.
John Jinapor has assured the public that steps will be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future, emphasizing the need for efficient management of public resources to advance Ghana’s developmental objectives.
