Over 4000 international surveyors to visit Ghana in 2024 for FIG Working week – Deputy Lands Minister

The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, responsible for Lands and Forestry, Mr. Benito Owusu-Bio has announced that some 4,000 International Surveyors will in May visit Ghana for the 2024 edition of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) Working Week in Accra.

The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, responsible for Lands and Forestry, Mr. Benito Owusu-Bio has announced that some 4,000 International Surveyors will in May visit Ghana for the 2024 edition of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) Working Week in Accra.

He said this will be an opportunity for Ghana to build on its credentials of using international events to facilitate national development and add value to its current events’ LEGACY development.

As Ghana prepares to host the FIG Working Week in 2024, Hon. Benito proudly affirmed the unwavering support of the Government of Ghana in ensuring the success of this event.

He said the event was an opportunity for Ghana to demonstrate its commitment to building a modern and sustainable surveying profession that contributes to the betterment of society, the environment, and the economy.

He stated further that Ghana recognizes the crucial role that FIG plays in the global economy by promoting the highest professional standards and practices in surveying, mapping, and geospatial information management.

These standards he said ensure consistency, accuracy, and interoperability of data, which is essential for various economic sectors such as construction, infrastructure development, urban planning, and land management.

The Deputy Minister touted Ghana as a country which presents a fascinating array of land-related issues that captivate their interest saying “Our ability to manage a dual system of land administration, our swift adoption of emerging technologies, and our recognition of the need for strengthened institutions, underscored by the power of strong partnerships, are just a few reasons why you should plan a visit to Ghana next year”

Speaking on Land Administration, the Deputy Minister said Ghana has made significant strides in innovation, in Land Administration, Geospatial Information, and Surveying practices, adding that the country has much to offer the surveying profession.

Mr. Owusu-Bio pointed out that the best in Ghana will also offer the chance to forge strong institutional partnerships, leveraging one another’s expertise and technology to transform the surveying profession and practice.

To woo these surveyors to Ghana, Ghana Benito Owusu-Bio presented Ghana’s best saying, “Ghana is a remarkable country with a rich history, pioneering the decolonization of Africa and playing an instrumental role in the formation of the African Union. Our beautiful nation boasts captivating tourist sites such as Kakum National Park, Mole National Park, Larabanga Mosque, breathtaking beaches, and a diverse culinary scene, among others”

He extended a warm invitation to all the surveyors and others who would like to join the FIG Working Week in Ghana come May 2024.
