According to provisional statistics released by the Electoral Commission (EC), a total of 18,772,795 valid voters are anticipated to participate in the upcoming general elections in December.
This figure includes 9,690,173 females and 9,082,622 males. The data also indicates that 708,282 new voters have been added to the electoral roll for the December elections.
Additionally, there are 332,110 transferred voters, 2,167 proxy voters, 32,974 applicants on the exceptions list, and 26,798 applicants on the multiples list.
In a related development, during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting in Accra on Tuesday, October 1, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa announced that the commission has largely addressed errors in the voter register.
She responded to concerns regarding the register, emphasizing that it is not final and acknowledging that some imperfections still exist. Mensa reassured stakeholders that such errors are typical in any registration process and that the EC is actively working to correct them.
