PAC: Atwima Nwabiagya MCE denies involvement in ¢150k fuel expenditure

The Municipal Chief Executive for Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal, Wisdom Osei Boamah, has distanced himself from a GHS150,000 fuel expenditure cited during a recent sitting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Speaking after his appearance before the committee, Mr. Osei Boamah clarified that the expenditure—reportedly made on fuel for drip machines in December 2024—occurred under the administration of his predecessor, Michael Amoah Awuku.

According to him, he was not in office at the time of the transaction, noting that he only assumed the role of MCE in May 2025.

Prior to his appointment, he served as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Atwima Nwabiagya South.

He described reports linking him to the expenditure as inaccurate, emphasizing that he had no involvement in decisions taken before his tenure.

Mr. Osei Boamah also expressed concern over the amount involved, stating that he felt “sad, embarrassed and disheartened” upon learning of the issue.

He assured residents of his commitment to transparency and accountability, pledging to strengthen oversight mechanisms to prevent similar occurrences under his leadership.

The matter was raised during proceedings of the Public Accounts Committee, which is tasked with scrutinizing the use of public funds by government institutions.
