The Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Mrs.Abena Osei-Asare, has disclosed that the Committee has completed over 60 percent of referrals made to it, as part of efforts to ensure accountability and value for every cedi spent in the 2024 Auditor-General’s Report with regard to Ministries, Departments and Agencies(MDAs).
Delivering her closing remarks,she expressed appreciation to all who contributed to the work of the committee. Also expressed sincere gratitude to the Ranking Member, Samuel Atta-Mills and all the Committee members for their dedication and commitment .
According to her, the committee has made significant progress, reviewing 16 reports referred to it — out of which 10 have been fully completed, representing over 60 percent of the total workload.
“The outstanding ones will require fieldwork outside Accra. We plan to tackle those in the regional districts starting next year,” she noted.
Earlier, the Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Ampem Nyarko and the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu led agencies under their ministries to answer queries raised in the Auditor-General’s 2024 Report.
These institutions were Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Ghana News Agencies (GNA), Ghana Publishing Company (GPC) Among others.
