The Public Account Committee (PAC) of Parliament has ordered the arrest of the Northern Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA) as a result of not depositing over GH¢160,000 internally generated funds into a designated Consolidated Fund Transit account of the Authority.
According to the 2022 Auditor General’s report, the Sports Authority’s Northern Regional Management used the funds in violation of the Public Financial Management Regulations, 2019.
However, an immediate arrest has been requested for the NSA Regional Director, who was not present during the Public Accounts Committee meeting.
The PAC chairman, James Klutse Avedzi, during the sitting on Monday said “We are directing that the regional director and accountant of the region should be picked up immediately by the police
“You are invited to appear before Parliament, and you refused attend, knowing very well that you had squandered over GH¢160,000 and you thought we will leave you to go scot free.”
