The Parliament of Ghana has approved the nomination of Herbert Krapa as Minister of State-designate for the Ministry of Energy.
This comes days after the Minority blocked a request by the Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin to expedite his vetting and approval.
President Akufo-Addo, last week nominated the Deputy Energy Minister to be a Minister of State at the Energy Ministry after the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, selected the Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate.
Subsequently, the Majority Leader requested the House to fast-track processes to fill the vacuum created at the ministry.
However, the Minority opposed the nomination arguing that the incumbent Energy Minister was still at post.
Despite the Minority’s disapproval, Herbert Krapa appeared before the Appointments Committee for vetting.
Subsequently, the Appointments Committee recommended his approval.
