Parliament is set to reconvene on November 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., following a summons issued by Speaker Alban Bagbin in accordance with Article 112(3) of the 1992 Constitution and the parliamentary standing orders.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Centre, Accra.
In a statement released, MPs are reconvening after a brief recess, and the session promises to be critical in advancing key legislative priorities.
This reconvening follows a meeting between a five-member Council of State delegation and Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to address recent developments within the legislature that led to the indefinite adjournment of parliamentary sessions.
After an in-depth discussion, Council members expressed their commitment to supporting Speaker Bagbin and House leadership in resolving any obstacles to reconvening Parliament.
Parliamentary activities were indefinitely adjourned by the Speaker following a dispute over which party holds the majority position.
The disagreement escalated when the Speaker declared four parliamentary seats vacant, resulting in an impasse that temporarily halted parliamentary sessions.
