The head of the Council of God Church, Reverend John Osei Ofori, has asked Members of Parliament to expedite the passage of the Anti-LGBTQ+ law.
He believes the lawmakers are capable of doing so if they truly believe it. He also noted that the bill’s passage has been long delayed.
He stated’’, If indeed the MPs are serious, they can pass the bill before we enter 2024. This bill has been long overdue, and future generations won’t forgive this new crop of MPs if they refuse to pass it; however, I will charge the leadership of the house, the clergy, and other stakeholders to join hands to facilitate the passage of the bill into law”.
Members of Parliament have started debating the promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2021 also known as the anti-LGBTQ+ bill.
The bill seeks to proscribe LGBTQ+ and related activities, proscribe propaganda of, advocacy for or promotion of LGBT and related activities; provide for the protection of and support for children, and persons who are victims or accused of LGBT and related activities
