The Ghana National Association of Concerned Nursing Trainees (GNACNT) has commended Vice President Dr. Bawumia for ensuring that their allowances are paid on time.

According to the group, the payment of the allowance will alleviate a significant financial burden on them.

In a letter dated May 23, 2024, the GNACNT expressed its appreciation, stating “We extend our special thanks to Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia for his unwavering dedication to ensuring that trainees receive their due allowance. His leadership and commitment to the welfare of trainees are truly inspiring, and we are grateful for his tireless efforts in supporting the development of the next generation of professionals,” part of the letter read.

This comes after the students started receiving their unpaid allowances this week as promised by the Vice President.

Dr. Bawumia had disclosed that the government will by Thursday, May 16, 2024, release an amount of GH¢177 million to the Ministry of Health to clear arrears owed nursing trainees in the country whiles he was on a tour of the Bono Region earlier this month.
