The National Peace Council (NPC) has extended an invitation to the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for a high-level dialogue ahead of the upcoming by-election in Akwatia.

In a letter dated August 30, 2025, the NPC, through its Executive Secretary Dr. George Amoh, requested a joint meeting with both parties to be held in Akwatia.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday, September 1, 2025, at 2 PM.

According to the letter, the meeting aims to promote peace and political tolerance ahead of the by-election.

This meeting follows earlier engagements with the NDC and NPP on July 29 and 30, respectively.

Copies of the correspondence were also sent to the chairpersons of both parties, as well as the Chairman of the National Peace Council.

The letter read “In fulfilment of our pledge to engage you ahead of the Akwatia by-elections, the Board respectfully requests a short meeting with the leadership of both the NDC and NPP”.
