The Rawlings Park Petty Traders Association (RPPTA), has made some donations to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) towards the celebration of this year’s Homowo Festival.
The group which comprises small-scale traders, merchants, and street vendors who ply their trade at Rawlings Park in the Central Business District (CBD) of Accra presented the items when their executives called on the Mayor of Accra.
The items include 20 packs of bottled Water, 10 crates of Egg, a Gallon of Palm Oil, 4 Bags of Maize, 20 tubers of Yam, and assorted non-alcoholic beverages.
Presenting the items to the Assembly, the Public Relations Officer (P.R.O) for the RPPTA, Mr Samuel Buabeng said the items were to support the Assembly in its quest to assist the Ga Traditional Council towards a successful Homowo celebration.
He assured that members of the Association were ready to comply with the directive and plans of the Assembly to redevelop the Park into an attractive Business enclave to promote economic development.
He expressed appreciation to the Mayor and the Assembly for addressing their concerns adding “Traders are happy with the state of the Market and the outcome of trading activities.”
Receiving the items, the first female Mayor of the AMA, Hon. Elizabeth Kwatsoe Sackey in the company of the Presiding Member, Hon. Alfred Asiedu Adjei and some other officials of the Assembly, urged the traders to ensure that the park was clean and organized to prevent congestion as well as adhere to the “operation clean your frontage” program.
The Mayor used the opportunity to introduce the newly appointed Coordinating Director of the AMA, Mr Douglas Annoful to the traders and informed them of plans to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Assembly.
